- 322-01Tumor of the lower leg59 男性Atsuji Matsuyama/Dept. of Pathology and Oncology
The patient admitted to hospital because of a mass in the lateral portion of the right lower leg for 3 years. There was no pain or tenderness, and physical examination demonstrated no other abnormalities of skin and soft tissue overlying the affected areas. MRI showed an intramuscular tumor measuring 4x5x18 cm with signals hypointense on T1-weighted images and irregularly hyperintense on T2-weighted images. Wide resection of the tumor was carried out.
- 322-02A neck mass54 男性Yasuji Yoshikawa/Beppu Medical Center
A 54-year-old man visited our hospital for the treatment of a subcutaneous mass on the right side of his neck. The mass had been present for at least three years and gradually increased in size. A lipoma was suspected and a simple excision was performed. Macroscopically it measured 30x24x18 mm, and was well circumscribed,
light tan in color, and soft in consistency.
- 322-03Tumor of the buttock24 女性Kazuhito Hatanaka/Dept. of Molecular and Cellular Pathology
The patient complained of approximately 5-year history of left coxalgia. CT revealed a 6cm-sized soft tissue mass located between the left greater trochanter and the left tuber ischiadicum. MR images showed a multiloculated cystic component without invasion of surrounding structures. Histological diagnosis was undetermined in biopsy specimen. The surgical resection was performed for the definite diagnosis.
- 322-04Retroperitoneal tumor61 男性Yuichi Yamada/Dept. of Anatomic Pathology, Kyushu University
The patient suffered from discomfort in the abdomen and was pointed out 8.5cm-sized heterogenous mass in the retroperitoneal area by contrast enhanced CT imaging. The operation was performed, while the tumor locally recurred in a half year. The patient died of the disease in one and a half years after the surgery. The distributed specimen was prepared from primary tumor.
- 322-05Tumor of the foot60 女性M. Hisaoka/Dept. of Pathol. & Oncol., UOEH
The patient noticed a rump in the instep of the left foot for approximately five years. She visited the orthopedic department of a regional hospital and was found to have a soft tissue tumor, measuring about 3 x 2 x 1 cm in diameter, in a radiological examination. Because of the diagnosis of malignant tumor made by excisional biopsy, re-excision was done to obtain a clear safety margin 20 days later. She was well without evidence of disease or metastasis nine years after surgery. The provided histologic slide was prepared from the biopsy specimen.
- 322-06Tumor of the buttocks58 女性Reiichiro Kondo/Kurume University School of Medicine
The patient visited nearby hospital with a complaint of small mass at her left buttocks three months ago. The mass tended to enlarge rapidly, and became 10cm in diameter. After biopsy, she underwent masstectomy. The mass was located at subcutis to intramusclular tissue, and the cut surface was yellowish to brownish with fibrous area.
- 322-07Ulcerative lesion of the left lower leg54 男性Kaori Koga-Yoshihiro Hamada/Dept. of Pathology, Fukuoka University School of Medicine
A 54-year old Japanese male presented with a 4-month history of an ulcer on his left lower leg, where he initially had a pigmented lesion from his infancy. He underwent surgical excision and malignant vascular tumor was suggested in other hospital. Wide-excision was performed in our hospital, because of the positive surgical margin at the first operation. The resected specimen showed an ulcerative lesion of 12x6 cm. The distributed section was obtained from the first operation.
- 322-08Subcutaneous tumor on the occipital region of head59 女性Yumi Honda/Dept. of Surgical Pathology, Kumamoto University Hospital
The patient presented with a subcutaneous tumor on the occipital region of head, which had been enlarged gradually for several years. The resected tumor was well-circumscribed, 4×3.5×2 cm in size. The cut surface of the tumor was solid, yellowish-white in color.
- 322-09Soft tissue tumor of the lower back58 女性Makoto Endo/Dept. of Anatomic Pathology, Kyushu Univ.
The patient was referred to our hospital with complaint of pain and a mass on her lower back. She had recognized the mass 3 years earlier, and it had been enlarged in recent months. Physical examination revealed a 5cm elastic hard mass lesion with slight tenderness and a decrease in sensation around the mass. Neither cutaneous lesions nor any other soft tissue masses were detected throughout the body. After open biopsy, surgical resection was performed. The biopsy specimen is distributed.
- 322-10Retroperitoneal tumor76 女性Kenichi Kohashi-Kazunobu Sueyoshi/Dept. of Anatomic Pathology, Kyushu Univ.-Dept. of Clinical Pathology, Kagoshima City Hospital
The patient had complained of lt. upper abdominal pain and heartburn. The CT revealed an irregular enhanced and 10 x 7 cm-sized mass, suggesting gastrointestinal stroma tumor of stomach. In operative finding, the tumor was located in lt. retroperitoneum, and showed the cut surface with grossly cystic formation, hemorrhage and tumor necrosis.
- 322-11Tumor of the axilla71 女性Naoki Sameshima/Division of Pathophysiology,Department of Pathology, University of Miyazaki
The patient noticed a mass near her left scapula one year ago. The MRI revealed an irregular enhancemenced mass (9 x 2 x 13 cm-size) beneath the latissimus dorsi muscle. Repeated biopsies suggested a benign lipomatous or myxoid tumor. The resected tumor showed myxoid and lobulated cut surface partly with ill-defined border.
- 322-12Tumor in the distal thigh33 女性Yusuke Takahashi/Dept. of Anatomic Pathology, Kyushu Univ.
The patient had complained of the left knee pain and had noticed a mass in the posterior side of the left distal thigh. MRI revealed 5x5cm-sized mass with iso intensity on T1-weighted images and high intensity on T2-weight images, which located within the hamstring muscle. The patient underwent wide surgical resection. Grossly, tumor was soft graysh-white mass on its cut surface. Eleven years after the operation, the tumor developed lung metastasis.
